FIDE Online Olympiad 2020
FIDE has announced that Online Olympiad 2020 would be held 22nd July to 30th August 2020.
The Online Olympiad is a national teams event in which all federations affiliated to FIDE have the right to participate.
Each team consists of six players, in a mixed format with a minimum quota of three female players and two junior players. Specifically, each team must include:
- at least 1 player U-20 (born in 2000 or later)
- at least 2 women
- at least 1 girl U-20 (born in 2000 or later)
The teams may have up to six reserves, plus a team captain.
Time control is 15 minutes plus 5 seconds increment per move.
The event will consist of two main stages: a “Divisions stage”, and a Play-offs stage.

Information for NZL players by New Zealand Chess Federation
The NZL team will comprise 12 players (including reserves), comprising 4 men, 4 women, 2 boys U20, and 2 girls U20. Plus a team captain. Players from the 2020 Olympiad teams will be given preference if they apply. Applications should be sent to Michael Freeman email [email protected], by 9th July 2020. Note that the tournament is being organised on a tight schedule with shortened deadlines.
Applications MUST give name, FIDEID, FIDE and NZL ratings for std and rapid, date of birth and gender. Please provide online handles for each major playing site (lichess.org, chess.com and chess24.com) where you have an account. (The final site has not yet been selected).
