Asian Seniors Chess Championships 2021 will be held from 31st October to 9th November 2021 in Damascus, Syria.

Invitation
Syrian Arab Chess Federation has the honor to invite all National Chess Federations in Asia to participate in the 2021 Asian Seniors Chess Championships for over-50 and over-65 years old and for Women over-50, from 31 October (arrival) to 9 November 2021 (departure), which will be held in Damascus, Syria.
Participation
The Asian Seniors Championship is open for all players over 50 and 65 years old by 31st December 2021, regardless of the rating and title which are members of FIDE and represent National Chess Federations (FIDE Zones 3.1 to 3.7.), There is no limit in the number of participants per federation. In case there are fewer than 8 players from at least 5 federations in the over-65 age group, that group shall be merged with the over-50.
Registrations
The entries must be submitted by the respective National Chess Federation on the attached registration form, ID photo and passport copy (colored scan) to the official emails [email protected] and [email protected], copy to [email protected]. The last date for registration is 15 October 2021.
Fees
Entry fees: Each player must pay 25 USD as entry fees to Asian Chess Federation.
Registration fees: Each player must pay 100 USD as registration fees to the Organizing Committee including registration and accreditation.
All fees and the hotel booking must be paid on arrival.
Invited players or their federations also will pay.
The last date for registration is 15 October 2021, After 15th October 2021, a late registration fees is 50 USD will be charged. Deadline for late registration is 22nd October 2021.
Players whose payment has not been received shall not be paired.
Accommodation
As per FIDE regulations, all players, except local players are obliged to be accommodated in the official hotel through the organizer.
Access to playing areas, venues and the hotel will be allowed only to people accredited by the organizer. In addition to the written application, a personal registration before the beginning of the tournament is necessary. Players who are not present at the technical meeting cannot be included in the drawing of lots and entry fees will be forfeited.

All Accommodation and meals in 5 stars hotel price include all local transportation in Syria and medical insurance for all participants
Tournament System and Rate of Play
The tournament will be played as a 9 round Swiss System. The FIDE Laws of Chess shall apply. Time control for Standard chess is 90 minutes each for the whole game, with 30 seconds increment per move from the first move. Default time is 30 minutes after starting time. Time control for Rapid chess is 15 minutes each plus 10 seconds increment per move. Time control for Blitz chess is 3 minutes each plus 2 seconds increment per move.
Tie-Break System
The order of the players that finish with the same number of points shall be determined by the application of the following tie-break procedures in sequence, proceeding from (a) to (b) to (c) to (d) and to (e).

b- Buccholz
c- Buccholz Cut 1
d- Buccholz Cut 2
e- Sonnenborn Berger
In case the tie is still not broken, one Armageddon blitz game between the top two shall decide.

There are internal tourist trips on days when there is only one round. After the round is finished and after lunch, the tour will be announced during the tournament.
Chief Arbiter and Appeals Committee
The Asian Chess Federation President shall appoint the Chief Arbiter and Chairman of Appeals. The Appeals Committee shall consist of three members and two reserves representing five different federations.
Appeals
A protest against a decision of an Arbiter must be submitted in writing to the Chief Arbiter within 15 minutes after the end of the relevant playing session. In submitting a protest, a protest fee of USD 200.00 (Two Hundred US Dollars) shall be paid to the Appeals Committee, which is refundable if the protest is upheld. The Appeals Committee, however, may decide to refund the fee if it considers that the appeal was not frivolous. The decision of the Appeals Committee shall be final and binding immediately. No Appeals are possible in Rapid and Blitz. The Chief Arbiter’s decision is final.
Prizes
Top three winners of each category (Standard, Rapid, Blitz) will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and Certificate. A total of $3,000 for standard chess in this Asian Chess Federation event shall be awarded as follows:

Money prizes are not shared.
Direct Titles
Gold medalists (first after tiebreak) in Standard chess open category shall receive a GM norm. 1st equal (first three after tie break) will receive the IM title. Silver and bronze medalists shall receive IM norms and FM titles. For a direct title to be awarded immediately an applicant has to have achieved at some time or other a minimum rating as follows: IM 2200, WIM 2000, FM 2100, WFM 1900.
Payments
Requisites: All fees and the hotel booking must be paid on arrival to the organizer.
Visa
Those who need visas should apply at the Syrian consulate nearest them.
Invitation letters will be issued upon filling the registration application on the deadline. To issue an invitation for visa to enter Syria participants should send a clear passport copy and provide visa form to [email protected] and [email protected]
15th October 2021 is the deadline when invitation for visa could be issued. After 15th October visa invitations are not issued.
Airport Transfers
The organizer will provide airport transfers for the participants from Damascus International Airport to the Official Hotel and back.
All participants are required to send by 22nd October 2021 their flight details of arrivals and departures at least one week before the arrival date to the official email of Syrian Arab Chess Federation
Flying to Beirut International Airport is also available, and there are officials from the Syrian Arab Chess Federation waiting for the arrivals to be transferred to Damascus, and the distance is only two hours by car.
People who do not send their flight details at the time specified above will not be picked up from the airport and the organizer will not be responsible for airport transfers.
Other Matters
Any matters not mentioned in the Regulations above will be decided upon, if necessary, after consultation with the Asian Chess Federation President.
