Oceania Senior Chess Championship 2021

Oceania Senior Chess Championship 2021 incorporating the Australian Senior Chess Championship will be played in Queensland’s premier tourism resort, Noosa. Hosted by Noosa Shire Chess Club from Sunday 14th to Saturday 20th November 2021 at the Tewantin-Noosa RSL Club POSTPONED to November 2022. There are extensive excursions, fine dining and accommodation options available.

Entry Fees

$200 Full Entry Early Bird (to 31 July) includes free entry to Blitz and Rapid.

$150 Concession Early Bird (to 31 July) includes free entry to Blitz and Rapid.

$200 Full Entry after 31 July.

$150 Concession after 31 July (pensioners).

FOC Free entry to FMs, WIMs, IMs, WGMs, GMs.

$30 Blitz (FIDE/ACF rated, open to all ages).

$20 Rapid (FIDE/ACF rated, open to all ages).

$30 Noosa Novice (all ages, must be unrated or under 1000).

$500 Sponsor/Supporter (please discuss).

Eligibility

Championships for players born up to 31st December 1971.

Noosa Novice for players of all ages who are unrated or rated under 1000.

Blitz and Rapid open to all players.

Format

Championships, 7 round Swiss tournament, ACF & FIDE rated where possible.

Noosa Novice, 7 round Swiss tournament, ACF & FIDE rated where possible.

Blitz, 7 round Swiss tournament, ACF & FIDE rated where possible.

Rapid, 7 round Swiss tournament, ACF & FIDE rated where possible.

Time Controls

Championships, 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one.

Blitz, 3 minutes plus 2 additional seconds per move.

Rapid, 15 minutes plus 10 additional seconds per move.

Prize Fund

The fund for prizes and trophies is $8000 based on 60 entries. First prize is $2000.

Prizes for minor places, rating divisions and other awards will be announced when entries reach 60 players or by 1st November, whichever occurs first.
