New Zealand chess players who participate in any NZCF rated event must be a member of a chess club that is affiliated or associated with NZCF (New Zealand Chess Federation). The Mount Maunganui RSA Chess Club offers memberships that fulfill this requirement from just $20 per year.

Eligibility
Upper Hutt Rapid 2026 is open to all players.
Tournament A: aimed at current NZCF 1100+ ranked players looking for ranked play.
Tournament B: NZCF unrated tournament aimed at younger or newer players.
Where players do not have a published NZCF rating, the Chief Arbiter may assign a rating at his discretion.

6 round Swiss tournament,
