South Island Championship 2021
South Island Championship 2021 is an 8 round chess tournament held from 13th to 16th October 8th to 11th December 2021 at Canterbury Chess Club, Christchurch. Open to all players with NZCF Master points on offer and the highest placed South Island player will be the South Island Champion. South Island Championship 2021 is generously sponsored by Respectrum Insurance Brokers.

Entry Fees
$100 per player Championship only.
$130 per player if entering both Championship and Rapid.
FREE for GM, WGM, IM or WIM titled players. Entry fee will be deducted from any prizes won.

Eligibility
Open to all players.
Non-NZL players must have FIDE ID issued by their chess federation.
NZL players without FIDE ID must provide full Date of Birth.
Format
8 round Swiss tournament, NZCF & FIDE rated where possible.
NZCF standard ratings are used for pairing and grade prizes purposes. Where players do not have a published NZCF rating, the Chief Arbiter may assign a rating at his discretion.
Time Controls
90 minutes each player plus 30 seconds increment per move from move one.

Registration by players needs to be done by 9am. Players should register in person where possible or by sending a text message to the organiser (+64 21 128 9543). Players who have not registered by 9am may not be paired for round 1.

PLEASE NOTE:
- No player may claim more than one prize.
- Prize money will be shared between eligible players on the same score.
The highest placed South Island player will be the South Island Champion.
NZ Master points are available.
Half point Byes
Players may take a half point bye in any of the first five rounds.
