South Island Rapid 2021
South Island Rapid 2021 is a 6 round rapid chess tournament held on
17th October 12th December 2021 at Canterbury Chess Club, Christchurch. Open to all players with NZCF Master points on offer and the highest placed South Island player will be the South Island Rapid Champion. South Island Rapid 2021 is generously sponsored by Respectrum Insurance Brokers.

$50 per player Rapid only.
$130 per player if entering both Championship and Rapid.
FREE for GM, WGM, IM or WIM titled players. Entry fee will be deducted from any prizes won.
Club account for payment: 03 0802 0093915 00 (state name & “SIChamps” as a reference). Or pay by cash at the tournament.

Non-NZL players must have FIDE ID issued by their chess federation.
NZL players without FIDE ID must provide full Date of Birth.
6 round Swiss tournament, NZCF & FIDE rated where possible.
NZCF rapid ratings are used for pairing and grade prizes purposes. Where players do not have a published NZCF rating, the Chief Arbiter may assign a rating at his discretion.
25 minutes each player plus 5 seconds increment per move from move one.

Registration by players needs to be done by 9am. Players should register in person where possible or by sending a text message to the organiser (+64 21 128 9543). Players who have not registered by 9am may not be paired for round 1.
- No player may claim more than one prize.
- Prize money will be shared between eligible players on the same score.
The highest placed South Island player will be the South Island Rapid Champion.
NZ Master points are available.
