Papatoetoe Rapid 2021
Papatoetoe Rapid 2021 is a chess event incorporating the 35th Papatoetoe Rapid Open and 6th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid tournaments. The tournaments are held at the Papatoetoe Hunters Corner Bowling Club on:
- Saturday 4th December 2021, 35th Papatoetoe Rapid Open.
- Sunday 5th December 2021, 6th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid.

Entry Details
Entry Fees
35th Papatoetoe Rapid Open:
- $50 per player, A Grade.
- $50 per player, B Grade.
- $40 per player, C Grade.
6th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid:
- $20 per player.
Family discount of $5 per player for two or more family members.
GMs and IMs free (entry fee will be deducted from winnings over $100).

All online payments and entries must be received by 5pm Thursday 2nd December 2021.

PAPATOETOE RAPID IS CANCELLED
I wish to advise you that our usual Papatoetoe Rapid Sat 4th and Sun 5th December will not go ahead this year, due to the Covid restrictions, and the fact that the Club must give one month's notice to FIDE before holding a FIDE event. I will keep you informed as to the direction of the Club after the NZCF Council meets on Tue 30th November. I will call a vote from my Committee by email immediately after.
Dates
Saturday 4th December 2021, 35th Papatoetoe Rapid Open.
Sunday 5th December 2021, 6th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid.

247 Great South Road, Papatoetoe.

Eligibility
Open to all players.
Non-NZL players must have FIDE ID issued by their chess federation.
NZL players without FIDE ID must provide full Date of Birth.
35th Papatoetoe Rapid Open:
- A Grade for players rated 1800 and above.
- B Grade for players rated under 1800.
- C Grade for players rated under 1500.
The Organiser reserves the right to move players to a different tournament if they feel an inappropriate one has been entered.
6th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid:
- Players must be under the age of 20 years before 1st January 2021.
Format
35th Papatoetoe Rapid Open, three separate 6 round swiss system tournaments.
6th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid, a six round swiss system tournament.
All tournaments FIDE and NZCF rated where possible.
Time Controls
All tournaments, Rapid: 25 minutes per player plus 5 seconds increment per move from move one.
Refreshments
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided for players throughout the event.

PLEASE NOTE:
- No player may claim more than one monetary prize.
- In the event of a tie, prize money will be shared.
- Players eligible for more then one prize in a tournament would receive the highest monetary value prize.

If tied, trophies and medals are subject to tiebreaks. Each player can only win one trophy/medal.
Winners names are engraved on Junior Championship Trophy and Best Girl Trophy. Winners take home engraved miniature cups.
Please Note:
- No player may claim more than one monetary prize.
- Tie-breaks only apply to trophies and medals. Monetary prizes are combined and shared if tied.
- In the event of joint overall champions, all names are engraved on championship trophy.
- Age group medals awarded in bands, e.g. a player eligible for under 14 cannot win under 16 prize.
