$60 per player.

Entry Instructions

Entries must be made by Wednesday 5th November 2025.

Club account for payment: 03-0658-0245215-00 (include your name
and ‘NZ Seniors’ as the reference).

Use online entry form to enter.

New Zealand chess players who participate in more than one NZCF rated event in a year must be a member of a chess club that is affiliated or associated with NZCF (New Zealand Chess Federation). The Mount Maunganui RSA Chess Club offers memberships that fulfill this requirement from just $15.

There are direct flights to Napier from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Cathedral Lane is off Tennyson Street in Napier CBD, with directions to the playing venue signposted on the day. There are plenty of accommodation options within walking distance of the venue.

Eligibility

Players must be over the age of 49 on 1st January 2025 (born before the year 1976).

Non-NZL players must have FIDE ID issued by their chess federation.

NZL players without FIDE ID must provide full Date of Birth.

Format

6 round Swiss tournament, NZCF & FIDE rated where possible.

Time Controls

90 minutes each player plus 30 seconds increment per move from move one.

Half Point Byes

Up to two half point byes are available in any of the first four rounds. Notice should be given before the start of the tournament and can be given upon entering.

The highest placed New Zealand player shall the be the New Zealand Seniors Chess Champion.

The highest placed player over the age of 64 on 1st January 2025 (born before the year 1961) shall be the New Zealand Veterans Chess Champion.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Monetary prizes are subject to a minimum of 3 entrants in each prize group.
  • No player may claim more than one prize.
  • Prizes and titles will be shared equally in the event of a tie.
