NZ Senior Championship 2022 now also known as the Ross Spiller Memorial is held at the Howick Chess Centre, 12 Central Terrace, Howick. NZ Senior Championship 2022 is an official NZCF tournament over 6 rounds at a pace of 2 rounds per day from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st August 2022.

$60 per player.

Only first 26 fully paid player entries accepted due to space constraints.

New Zealand chess players who participate in 2 or more NZCF rated events in a year must be a member of a chess club that is affiliated or associated with NZCF (New Zealand Chess Federation). The Mount Maunganui RSA Chess Club offers memberships that fulfill this requirement from just $10.

Eligibility
Players must be over the age of 49 on 1st January 2022 (born before the year 1973).
Non-NZL players must have FIDE ID issued by their chess federation.
NZL players without FIDE ID must provide full Date of Birth.
Only first 26 fully paid player entries accepted due to space constraints.
Format
6 round Swiss tournament, NZCF & FIDE rated where possible.
Time Controls
90 minutes each player plus 30 seconds increment per move from move one.
Byes
Players may request up to two half point byes but not in the last 3 rounds. Requests for byes must be notified to the arbiter & organiser at least one round in advance.

Prize fund is a minimum and may be higher. A number of book prizes will also be given.
Winners will have their names engraved on the official NZCF trophies and NZ Master points will also be available.
PLEASE NOTE:
- No player may claim more than one prize.
- In the event of a tie, prize money will be shared.
