AUCA IMC Chess Tournament 2021 is a one day rapid chess tournament held on 6th April 2021 at Alexandra Park, Auckland. Spectacular prizes including vouchers and two all expenses paid trips to Sydney are sponsored by IMC.

Entry Fees
$10 per player, current University of Auckland students.
$15 per player. University of Auckland alumni and current Auckland University of Technology students.

$25 per player. University of Auckland alumni and current Auckland University of Technology students.

AUCA is hosting an ALL-DAY RAPID CHESS TOURNAMENT – Sponsored by IMC. We have some spectacular prizes to be won, including vouchers and two all expenses paid trips to Sydney to tour IMC’s HQ! 💼✈️
There is an entry fee of $15 ($10 for current UoA students). Once entered, you’ll get an exclusive AUCA shirt and PREMIUM membership for the year! Premium members will have discounts from our sponsors (chess equipment, food, drinks, etc) as well as discounts for the rest of our special events.
So spread the good news and start practicing your chess skills ♟️ as this could be your chance to work with IMC 🔥. The first 90 paid registrants will secure their spot! (T&C’s apply)
Tournament details:
– 6 rounds 7 rounds rapid 25 mins + 5 seconds
– Date: Tuesday 6th of April
– Time: All day 9am to 4.30pm 6pm ⏱️
– Venue: Lyell Creek Lounge at Alexandra Park 🏢
Tournament T&Cs:
– You are either a current UoA student (undergraduate or postgraduate), alumni, or a current AUT student.
– Provide verification with University Student ID
– Bank transfer only, no cash payment (to ensure commitment and enough planning time for number of players)
Failure to comply with the T&Cs of the tournament risks forfeiting your entry fee and any prizes won.

Eligibility
Open to current University of Auckland (UoA) students (undergraduate or postgraduate), UoA alumni, or current Auckland University of Technology (AUT) students only.
Format
6 round 7 round Swiss tournament.
Time Controls
25 minutes each player plus 5 seconds increment per move from move one.
Refreshments
Remember to bring lunch, or prepare the means to buy lunch on the day, as we won’t be serving food (although we are serving water – we aren’t that poor).
Schedule
Arrive by 9am, so we can get round 1 started as soon as possible.
We plan to finish prizegiving by 4.30pm 6pm.
Prizes
Huge Prizes:
- 1st All expenses paid trip to IMC Sydney. Plus $300 cash voucher.
- 2nd All expenses paid trip to IMC Sydney. Plus $200 cash voucher.
- 3rd Wooden chess set. Plus $100 cash voucher.
