NZ Women’s Championship 2022
NZ Women’s Championship 2022 is a 7 round chess tournament for women and girls of all ages held from 17th to 20th April 2022 at Green Bay High School, Green Bay, Auckland. This event is dedicated to Helen Courtney, three time NZ Olympiad representative who died in 2020. NZ Women’s Championship 2022 and prizes are generously sponsored by Helen Courtney’s family and friends.

COVID-19 Protection Framework (Traffic Lights) for Auckland must be at Orange or Green for this event to proceed.
Entry Details
Entry Fees
$70 per player Championship.
$50 per player Reserve.
Family discount – deduct $10 per player for 2 or more family members.
Entry Instructions
No entries accepted after 13th April 2022.
Club account for payment: 02 0152 0036627 00 (Reference ‘Womens Champs’, which tournament ‘Champs’ or ‘Reserve’, and your name as Particulars).

New Zealand chess players who participate in 2 or more NZCF rated events in a year must be a member of a chess club that is affiliated or associated with NZCF (New Zealand Chess Federation). The Mount Maunganui RSA Chess Club offers memberships that fulfill this requirement from just $10.

Eligibility
Open to women and girls of all ages.
Non-NZL players must have FIDE ID issued by their chess federation.
NZL players without FIDE ID must provide full Date of Birth.
Format
Two separate 7 round Swiss tournament, NZCF & FIDE rated where possible.
Championship where all players are eligible to play.
Reserve for players rated under 1300.
Time Controls
90 minutes each player plus 30 seconds increment per move from move one.

$150 Best game prize will be judged by GM Murray Chandler. Players must submit games either during the event or by email to the Organiser by 28th April 2022.
Highest placed NZ player in the Championship will hold the Mabel Abbot Queen Trophy for the year. The winners of the Championship and Reserve will receive miniatures.
Some book prizes will also be available.
