Kapiti Junior Championship 2024 is a chess tournament open to primary and college students under the age of 20 that is held on Saturday 7th September 2024 at Paraparaumu College.

Entry Fees
$20 per player.
Entry Instructions
Entry closes 8.30pm Thursday 5th September 2024.
Payment to Kapiti Chess Club account: 06 0730 0064954 00 (Include your name & “KJCC” as reference).
Email your entry to [email protected], include name, date of birth and school.
New Zealand chess players who participate in more than one NZCF rated event in a year must be a member of a chess club that is affiliated or associated with NZCF (New Zealand Chess Federation). The Mount Maunganui RSA Chess Club offers memberships that fulfill this requirement from just $15.

Travel Arrangements
Eligibility
Open to primary and college students.
Format
6 round Swiss tournaments, NZCF rated where possible.
Individual event for all competitors, plus a team event for Kapiti Horowhenua schools only.
5 playing Divisions:
- Open (under 20 at 1/1/24 with NCZF rating above 1200)
- Senior: 13 years & over
- Intermediate: 11-12 years
- Junior: 10 years and under
- Kapiti Schools Team Cup: Kapiti Horowhenua schools & colleges only (up to 4 players counting per team)
Time Controls
15 minutes each player plus 5 seconds increment per move from move one.
