George Trundle 2023 is a chess event comprising 4 separate individual single round robin tournaments. Held from Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th and Tuesday 18th to Friday 21st April 2023 at the Auckland Chess Centre. Each George Trundle 2023 tournament has 9 rounds with 10 players each. Tournaments are the Masters, Qualifiers, Reserves and Talents.

Due to low entry numbers, George Trundle 2023 would comprise 2 round robin tournaments, Masters and Qualifiers. Pairings for all 9 rounds are now available in the section below (titled “Round Robin pairings for all 9 rounds).

Entries that have been received would be listed here for SORTING into the 4 round robin tournaments about a week before George Trundle 2023 starts. After 40 entries have been received, any further entry applications would be listed in the WAITLIST.

Entry Fees

$100 per player.

Entry Instructions

Only first 20 fully paid player entries accepted due to space constraints.

All entries and payments must be made online with TryBooking (available from 12pm 2nd March 2023) or through using the form below. Multiple players may be entered in the same booking, simply select number of players (tickets).

Once entries are full, subsequent players may apply to be placed in waiting list before being selected to be invited to substitute for any entered players who need to withdraw.

Eligibility

Open to all players.

Non-NZL players must have FIDE ID issued by their chess federation.

NZL players without FIDE ID must provide full Date of Birth.

Automatic entry to first 20 players.

Once entries are full, subsequent players may apply to be placed in waiting list before being selected to be invited to substitute for any entered players who need to withdraw.

Format

Masters is a 9 round single round robin tournament of 10 players, NZCF & FIDE rated where possible.

Qualifiers is a  9 round single round robin tournament of 10 players, NZCF & FIDE rated where possible.

Four 9 round single round robin tournaments, NZCF & FIDE rated where possible.

Time Controls

90 minutes each player plus 30 minutes at move 40, with 30 seconds increment per move from move one.
