Entry Details

Players are invited to apply for selection to the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2023-24 in Melaka, Malaysia from 19-28 February 2024. These events have official places for NZ players (i.e. registered with FIDE as NZL) which means cheaper registration fees and free shared accommodation for the player (but not accompanying persons/parents). If selected, NZCF will offer to register you/your child as an official player in the relevant category – for children under 18, this requires parental agreement.

The official website and regulations are here (including costs etc): https://malaysiachess.org/announcement/malaysia-to-organize-commonwealth-chess-championship-2023-24-from-19th-to-28th-february-in-melaka/

Entry Instructions

NZL players will be selected for their age and gender category. Successful applicants will be registered by NZCF as official players. Unsuccessful applicants are responsible for registering themselves as additional players (and can do that at any time up to 15 January).

Use entry form through the button below to apply for official spaces. Official applications close 27th December @ 23:59pm.

Accompanying persons should use this form as well – where questions are required but not applicable e.g. FIDE ID for someone without one, please type N/A. In the additional information section, please state the player to be accompanied.

NZL players will be selected for their age and gender category. Successful applicants will be registered by NZCF as official players. Unsuccessful applicants are responsible for registering themselves as additional players (and can do that at any time up to 15 January).
