1st Counties Rapid 2023 is a 6 round rapid chess tournament held on Saturday 18th September 2023 at the Pulman Arena Conference Centre inside Pulman Arena, Bruce Pulman Park, Papakura, Auckland. 1st Counties Rapid 2023 organised by Counties Chess Club at a conveniently located venue that is near Papakura and Takanini.

Entry Fees

A‘ tournament: $50 per player.

B‘ tournament: $40 per player.

Junior‘ tournament: $20 per player.

$15 per player Late Fee if payment not received / not shown by 12pm Thursday 16th November 2023.

New Zealand chess players who participate in more than one NZCF rated event in a year must be a member of a chess club that is affiliated or associated with NZCF (New Zealand Chess Federation). The Mount Maunganui RSA Chess Club offers memberships that fulfill this requirement from just $15.

Eligibility

Open to all players.

Non-NZL players must have FIDE ID issued by their chess federation.

NZL players without FIDE ID must provide full Date of Birth.

Format

Three separate 6 round Swiss tournaments, NZCF & FIDE rated where possible.

A‘ tournament for players rated 1800 and above.

B‘ tournament for players rated below 1800.

Junior‘ tournament for players aged under 20 years before 1st January 2023 and rated below 1200.

The organisers reserve the right to shift a player to a different tournament if they feel an inappropriate one has been entered.

Time Controls

Rapid. 25 minutes each player plus 5 seconds increment per move from move one.

The ‘A’ tournament winner will hold the Counties Rapid trophy until the next Counties Rapid. The local Senior and Junior players with the best result in the same tournament receives the best local player Senior and Junior’s trophy until the next Counties Rapid.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • No player may claim more than one prize.
  • In the event of a tie, prize money will be shared.

 

Players eligible for Open or Grade Prize, would receive the highest monetary value prize.
