Papatoetoe Rapid 2024
Papatoetoe Rapid 2024 is a chess event incorporating the 37th Papatoetoe Rapid Open and 8th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid tournaments. The tournaments are held at the Papatoetoe Hunters Corner Bowling Club on:
- Saturday 7th December 2024, 37th Papatoetoe Rapid Open.
- Sunday 8th December 2024, 8th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid.

All entries and payments must be received by 5pm Thursday 5th December 2024.
Online payments only. No cheques or cash accepted.

with OPEN or Bgrd and/or JUN as Particulars, your NZCF/FIDE ID if known as Payee Code, Surname and First name as Reference.

Please contact us if name is not listed more than a day after submission.
New Zealand chess players who participate in more than one NZCF rated event in a year must be a member of a chess club that is affiliated or associated with NZCF (New Zealand Chess Federation). The Mount Maunganui RSA Chess Club offers memberships that fulfill this requirement from just $15.

Travel Arrangements
Eligibility
Open to all players.
Non-NZL players must have FIDE ID issued by their chess federation.
NZL players without FIDE ID must provide full Date of Birth.
37th Papatoetoe Rapid Open:
- Open for players rated 1800 and above.
- B Grade for players rated under 1800.
The Organiser reserves the right to move players to a different tournament if they feel an inappropriate one has been entered.
8th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid:
- Players must be under the age of 20 years before 1st January 2024.
Format
37th Papatoetoe Rapid Open, two separate 6 round swiss system tournaments.
8th Papatoetoe Junior Rapid, a six round swiss system tournament.
All tournaments FIDE and NZCF rated where possible.
Time Controls
All tournaments, Rapid: 25 minutes per player plus 5 seconds increment per move from move one.

PLEASE NOTE:
- No player may claim more than one monetary prize.
- In the event of a tie, prize money will be shared.
- Players eligible for more then one prize in a tournament would receive the highest monetary value prize.

If tied, trophies and medals are subject to tiebreaks. Each player can only win one trophy/medal.
Winners names are engraved on Junior Championship Trophy and Best Girl Trophy. Winners take home engraved miniature cups.
Please Note:
- No player may claim more than one monetary prize.
- Tie-breaks only apply to trophies and medals. Monetary prizes are combined and shared if tied.
- In the event of joint overall champions, all names are engraved on championship trophy.
- Age group medals awarded in bands, e.g. a player eligible for under 14 cannot win under 16 prize.
