DESCRIPTION:\n14 January 2021\n2021 Oceania Zonal ( https://auschess.org.au/oceania-hybrid-3-6-zonal-2021/ )\nI am pleased to be able to announce details for a Zone 3.6 Championship to select a representative\nplayer for the 2021 World Cup, at this stage scheduled for Sochi, Russia in July.\nThe tournament will use FIDE Hybrid tournament rules and has been approved at the Asian Chess\nFederation Executive Board meeting held Monday, February 15th.\n.\nThe tournament will be held as a round robin event over the consecutive weekends of March 20th and 21st and March 27th and 28th.\nTwo rounds will be played per day, 4 rounds over each weekend. In case of a tied result, FIDE World Cup tie-breaks will be used.\n\nFIDE Hybrid Rules apply.\nWorld Cup Time Control of 90 minutes + 30 secs increment + 30 minutes addition.\nRound times (Sydney time) to be 11am and 5pm on March 20th and 21st and March 27th and 28th.\nThe Chief Technical Arbiter and Coordinator is David Esmonde.\nChief Arbiters are IA Leonid Sandler and IA Peter Tsai\nThe tournament will be FIDE rated.\nIn the event of a tie, FIDE World Cup tie-breaks will be used. The winner will be entitled to\nrepresent Zone 3.6 in the 2021 FIDE World Cup.\nA prize fund will be distributed as follows:\n1st $2,000 (US)\n2nd $1,500 (US)\n3rd $1,000 (US)\n4th $ 500 (US)\n\nMore details to follow soon.\nPaul Spiller\nPresident zone 3.6\n\n14 November 2020\n2021 Oceania Zonal postponed\nChess Victoria put a lot of effort organising this important event that was originally planned for January 2021.\nIn order to conduct a successful event in a time of pandemic with limited International travel and local opportunities we suggested that FIDE allows the organisers to create hubs and play online.\nFIDE will consider our revolutionary ideas in their December 2020 online General Assembly. Also FIDE needs to clarify how the WCC cycle 2021 will work.\nWe have to wait and see what transpires.\nLeonid Sandler on behalf of the organising committee.\n
